The Gransfors Bruks Axe offers a 4.8 pound (2.2 kg) head with a 4.75 inch (12 cm) face and a 31 inch (80 cm) handle. Designed for the most powerful strokes to fell full-sized trees, this axe is nearly twice as heavy as the Scandinavian Forest Axe. The base of the handle is flared to enable a secure hold without exerting a lot of pressure with the hands. When chopping for an extended time with full, powerful strokes, a wood handle offers much more comfort than steel or fiberglass because of wood's ability to dampen vibration and insulate from cold. Basically the same Axe head is also offered with two more choices of handle: 35 inch (89 cm) flared handle (Item 434 - 2, $190).
